It’s been eight years since director James Cameron unleashed Avatar and the world of Pandora into our lives. Those who have been hungering for a sequel to the 2009 film got some great news on Saturday.
That’s because there’s not just one Avatar sequel in the works. No, there are four sequels that will be released between 2020-2025, and Cameron’s team has begun work on all of them.
(function(d, s, id) { var js, fjs = d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0]; if (d.getElementById(id)) return; js = d.createElement(s); js.id = id; js.src = "//connect.facebook.net/en_US/sdk.js#xfbml=1&version=v2.3"; fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js, fjs);}(document, 'script', 'facebook-jssdk'));
Great to be working with the best team in the business! Avatar takes flight as we begin concurrent production on four…

As the Verge noted, Cameron originally thought he would release two sequels to the original film beginning in 2015, but two sequels eventually became four and the release dates kept getting postponed.
Meanwhile, Pandora: The World of Avatar will open in Disney World in May.
